Dr. Jacob Eapen is a global pediatrician and renowned public health physician. After completing his MBBS at Trivandrum Medical College, he pursued postgraduate studies at Christian Medical College, Vellore, and CMC Ludhiana. He served as a consultant pediatrician with the Aga Khan Foundation Hospital in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, followed by three years at the University Teaching Hospital in Nigeria.
In 1984 he moved to the United States, earning his Master’s in Public Health from UC Berkeley and later his MD from Stanford University. He served the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), where he was responsible for the lives of nearly 60,000 Indo-Chinese refugees.
He currently serves as the Medical Director of Alameda Health System, one of the largest public health systems in California, and as an internationally recognized public health consultant, lecturer, and advisor.
Awarded in 2007, recognizing distinguished Americans alongside past U.S. Presidents and Nobel Prize winners.
Recipient of the first-ever California Medical Board's Physician Recognition Award.
Selected among the 40 most outstanding Stanford University alumni from the past 60 years.
